Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Collective Theory Corp ("we", "our", or "us") operates the YourTalks mobile application and the yourtalks.ai website (together, the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service.

Information We Collect

We collect several types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name (optional)
  • Authentication provider information (Apple ID or Google account)

Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you use the Service:

  • Topics you request for podcast generation
  • Podcasts you listen to and your listening history
  • Features you use within the app
  • Device information (device type, operating system)

Generated Content: The podcasts you generate and any comments you post are stored on our servers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data for various purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Service
  • To generate personalized podcast content based on your requests
  • To notify you about changes to our Service
  • To provide customer support
  • To gather analysis or valuable information to improve our Service
  • To monitor the usage of the Service
  • To detect, prevent and address technical issues

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security practices. We use Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) for authentication, database, and storage services. Audio files and transcripts are stored on secure servers.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Data Retention

We keep personal data only as long as we need it to provide the Service:

  • Account data: kept while your account is active, and deleted when you delete your account
  • Podcasts, transcripts, and comments: kept while your account is active; deleted when you delete the item or your account
  • Listening history and usage data: kept while your account is active, and deleted with your account
  • Billing and transaction records: subscription purchases are processed by Apple. We retain the minimum records needed to honor entitlements and meet tax and accounting obligations, typically up to seven years
  • Backups and server logs: deleted data may persist in encrypted backups and diagnostic logs for up to 90 days before being overwritten

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use third-party services to help operate our Service (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics). These providers have access to your data only to perform tasks on our behalf.
  • Public Content: Podcasts you generate on the free tier are publicly visible to other users. Premium users can create private podcasts.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.

Third-Party Services

Our Service uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, and analytics
  • Perplexity AI: Research and source discovery for podcast content
  • Anthropic (Claude): Script generation for podcasts
  • ElevenLabs: Voice synthesis for audio generation

Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing their use of data.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The yourtalks.ai website does not use cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party analytics. We do not run any cross-site tracking, and we do not respond to Do Not Track signals because we do not track you across sites in the first place. The website loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of serving those files.

Inside the app, Firebase stores an authentication token on your device so you stay signed in. This is required for the Service to function and is not used for advertising.

Your Data Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export: Request an export of your data in a portable format

To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@collectivetheory.com.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives you the following rights:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and to request a copy of it
  • Right to delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of
  • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as that term is defined by the CCPA
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service for exercising any of these rights

The categories of personal information we collect are identifiers (email address, account identifiers), commercial information (subscription status), internet activity (usage and listening data), and user-generated content. These are described in detail in the sections above. We collect them for the business purposes listed under "How We Use Your Information."

To exercise any of these rights, email support@collectivetheory.com. We will verify your request using the email address associated with your account and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, with written proof of authorization.

Canadian Privacy Rights

If you are in Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies to our handling of your personal information. You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccuracies, and to withdraw consent to our processing — though withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide the Service. To make a request or raise a concern, contact support@collectivetheory.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through the app's Settings menu. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile and authentication data are permanently removed
  • All podcasts you created are deleted from our servers and the public feed
  • All comments you posted are removed
  • Your listening history and bookmarks are deleted

This action is immediate and irreversible.

Where Your Data Is Processed

YourTalks is operated from the United States, and the Service is offered in the United States and Canada. Your personal data is stored and processed on servers in the United States using Google Cloud Platform. If you use the Service from Canada, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

The third-party providers listed above may also process data outside your country of residence under their own privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
